This is a great board that has some very interesting facts about recycling. Attached is just one of the interesting things that you will see on that board. This is a great way to learn about the effects of recycling. I hope you all check it out!
Tonight I saw an interesting speech by Caroline Spencer. She is from Madison Wisconsin and runs her own workout studio, Power Thru Pilates. She has completed a crazy amount of marathons and endurance races. For her speech she told us about her many challenging events and how she got through them.
Most of her speech definitely focused on the things that she did and how those races brought her up to today. One of the most inspiring things she talked about was completing her 6, 100 mile endurance races, and she described how those affect your body and everything you have to do to make it through one of those races. One of the other inspiring things she talked about was when she ran the Boston Marathon when the bombing occurred. Throughout her speech she really stressed that all throughout her life she was just an average athlete and that if you put your mind to it that you can accomplish anything. She encouraged all of us to try something that we’ve never done and take that chance, although she said that we didn’t have to do something necessarily athletically related. Overall she was a very interesting speaker who has accomplished many interesting and impressive feats throughout her life.
I had a great time with a bunch of my residents playing a great game called Monty Python Fluxx. Fluxx is a game where the rules constantly change but it generally involves drawing and playing different cards. We started with the 4 people in the picture but we ended up with a total of 6 players as we picked up passersby. Everyone seemed to have a great time and I feel like we will be playing more games in the future.
I had a great time at this game with many of my residents. As you can tell by the picture it was a little sunny and there was a lot of squinting but we all had a great time. The game was a little too close for comfort at the end, but Platteville came out on top with a 3 point victory over the Steven’s Point Pointers. We also enjoyed watching one of our fellow wing mates during the Marching Pioneers Halftime Show.
Thanks to everyone who came out to Manor Care for the Tuesday of Morrow Works Week. We all had a wonderful time playing bingo with the lovely residents there and they were very happy to have us there too. This was a great opportunity to meet the residents there and share our experiences with them and for them to share their’s with us. This was overall a great community service opportunity that went very well.
For my wing I made a series of posters that obviously reflect back to my opening theme which was Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This poster series includes four posters the one shown being Integrity and the others are Diversity, Improvisation, and Determination. I thought this would be a funny and creative way to get them thinking about these larger topics in their own lives, such as how am I including others and how am I being true to myself and overall who am I.
A couple days ago I put up these football field M’s for homecoming. The M of course is for all the M’s in Platteville and the football field is self-explanatory. I have already heard many great things about these door decs and I am glad that they enjoy them.
